Abigail Strickland

Abigail Strickland has been employed by the City of Newnan since 2017. Abigail was first hired as the Special Event Coordinator, but now serves as the Main Street Manager and the staff liaison Newnan Downtown Development Authority. As the Main Street Manager, Abigail works closely with downtown business owners, property owners, the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development agencies, non-profits groups and other governmental agencies. Main Street Newnan is recognized as a Nationally Accredited Main Street program and a Georgia Exceptional Main Street “GEMS” community. In 2021, Main Street Newnan had a community impact of over $12 million in private and public investment. As a Newnan Native, Abigail takes pride in ensuring the downtown district is vibrant and accessible for all.

Abigail has served on the Georgia Downtown Association Board (GDA) since 2021. GDA is a non-profit statewide organization that connects communities and professionals committed to downtown vitality and promoting the economic redevelopment of Georgia’s traditional downtowns.

With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Grand Canyon University and extensive background in customer service and management, Abigail believes understanding human behavior is relatable in every professional aspect. Abigail enjoys traveling, cooking, and working on home projects in her free time.
