Marquese Kwame Averett affectionately known as “Skinny” is an organizer by training and an activist by passion. He has devoted his entire life to amplifying the voices of the marginalized. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Regional Organizing for Partnership for Southern Equity. He has received various awards including the The Rainbow Push Trailblazer Award, Omega Psi Phi Citizen of the Year, Firm Grip Achievement Award and has been twice named as one of the 50 most influential African Americans in Columbus. He is a graduate of Fort Valley State University earning his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He has been all across the United States, lending his voice and his talents to the movement for black lives. Wherever there is an injustice, he can be found speaking truth to power.
