Jorge Paez was raised in Dalton, GA. He and his family migrated here at the age of 1 in 1991 from Mexico. While living in the States, he attended all Whitfield County public schools and graduated from High school with a dual seal diploma and dual enrollment from Southeast Whitfield high and Whitfield Career Academy. He then completed a Business Administration bachelor’s degree at Dalton State College with a focus in Management Information Systems. Simultaneously while finishing his degree, Jorge would do freelance computer technician services and operate and manage a food truck on the weekends. He then started to practice in his field of study at one the largest local carpet manufacturing facilities in the county. He helped them in the Finance department as well as a support analyst and computer technician for the company. There he was cross trained and learned the “corporate-America-way” of doing business. He then moved on to a smaller carpet manufacturer as maintenance clerk where he was promoted to a systems administrator in the IT department. Working with the small carpet manufacturer he was exposed to a very intense use of IoTs (internet-of-Things), OT (Operational Technology), and PLCs (programmable logic controllers) as well as foreign policy between different countries Mexico and Germany. Currently, he is employed as the Director of Information Technology for the City of Dalton. He manages and oversees workflow processes, technology assets, and mitigates and assess cybersecurity risks for the City of Dalton. He feels very fulfilled when serving and giving hist time to the residents of the City of Dalton. His hobbies include farming, cycling, and retro computing. His overall greatest life achievement is his family.
