Aaron Szarowicz is the Economic Development Manager for the City of Douglasville. A Michigan native, Aaron graduated with his Master of Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Shortly thereafter, he came to Douglasville through the ICMA Local Government Management Fellowship Program in July 2016. After his two-year fellowship concluded, Aaron was asked to serve the City of Douglasville as the Community Outreach Coordinator, representing the City in a wide variety of capacities. The relationships he created as the Community Outreach Coordinator have helped him make a seamless transition into his current role. During his 14-month tenure as the Economic Development Manager, Aaron has focused on two major redevelopment projects that will rejuvenate Downtown Douglasville. Additionally, he is at the preliminary stages of creating a strategy to attract retail and commercial development to various corridors throughout the city. Aaron resides in Smyrna, GA with his wife—a third-grade special education teacher—and newborn daughter. In addition to his passion for assisting local and small businesses, Aaron is an avid sneaker fan and food enthusiast; he loves exploring everything Atlanta and the State of Georgia has to offer with his family.
