Regardless of who wins in November, many of our fellow citizens will be upset. How will Georgians, already deeply polarized, respond to one of the most contentious elections in history?
Together, improving the state of our State underlies GeorgiaForward’s work. Whatever the results of the election, we must pledge to put our shared civic community above our partisan preferences. That’s why GeorgiaForward has joined Braver Angels in With Malice Toward None, an initiative to depolarize America by fostering and creating opportunities for civil discourse and understanding, the organization.
Individuals can sign the following pledge, committing to not holding hate against fellow citizens no matter who wins or loses:
Regardless of how the election turns out, I will not hold hate, disdain, or ridicule for those who voted differently from me. Whether I am pleased or upset about the outcome, I will seek to understand the concerns and aspirations of those who voted differently and will look for opportunities to work with people with whom I disagree.
If this aligns with the kind of civic community you’d like to create and uphold in Georgia, please join us in signing this pledge and committing to a renewed citizenship with each other.
