Travis Taylor is a 31-year-old native Michigander. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s in science in Mathematics and Physics Education. Travis has been teaching in one form or another since 2013 in South Korea, Michigan, Georgia and Brazil. When he returned to the US in 2020 (mid pandemic), he was lucky enough to return to Southeast Whitfield High School where he is currently teaching his first Advanced Placement Calculus class. He married the love of his life Mrs. Brittany Wade (Taylor)—another local teacher—in Dahlonega, GA on October 30th. They spend their free time traveling as far as the bank account will allow. They are the proud parents of two beautiful 11-year-old puppies, Max and Jane, and our new rescue kitten Overcast. Travis enjoys writing, reading, hiking, mountain biking and volunteering. During his time abroad—1 year in South Korea and 3 years in Brazil—he studied Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, respectively. He is currently active with both Habitat for Humanity and Big Brother Big Sister, though he periodically helps with numerous pet rescue organizations between Whitfield and Gilmer County. Dalton, GA has been his home base for the last 6 years. As a teacher he spends every day interacting with the community, a community that welcomed him with open arms.
